Black History Month

First celebrated in the UK in 1987, Black History Month celebrates, recognises and values the inspirational individuals and events from within the BME communities. Commemorating its 30th Anniversary this year, we have a host of workshops that invite your students to meet important people from the past and explore key historical events, including:
Celebrate Black History Month with this specially created large group session. As your children discover more about the abolition of slavery and the Windrush generation, they will also encounter some unsung heroes from black history.
Step aboard the famous Windrush, voyage with historic figures and learn how they felt about the journey from the Caribbean. Hear all about the famous musician passenger Lord Kitchener, and explore what settling in Britain was like for the Windrush's passengers.
See the tales of How Anansi became King of all the Stories and How the Zebra got his Stripes dramatically unfold as your pupils create vibrant African scenes.
(Also available in large group format for up to 120 children)
As Mary shares her stories and explains the challenges she faced, your children will witness her encounter with Florence Nightingale and help the famous nurse set up the British Hotel.
This special Story Hunt takes your Early Years children on a journey from England to Kenya and on to the Caribbean, culminating in a lively carnival of stories.
Led by Hera, the Greek Goddess of Women, the workshop will introduce children to a range inspirational women from various spheres: adventurous and pioneering women, women in the arts, women in politics and women in science. One of the characters in the workshop is the iconic Rosa Parks
