A Carnival of Stories

This special Early Years’ Story Hunt will take your children on a journey to discover stories from around the world.

They will start in England with the book Amazing Grace, travel onto Kenya in Lila and the Secret of the Rain, to the Caribbean in Island Counting and finally, to meet the keeper of the stories himself, Anansi. Using stories, songs and rhymes, the session is packed with interactive activities based around these tales.

Benefits

Our Early Years Story Hunts support learning goals by embedding the objectives in the structure and delivery of the session.

  • Listening and attention: children listen to stories anticipating key events; respond with relevant comments or actions.
  • Speaking: children show awareness of listeners’ needs; they develop their own narratives by connecting ideas or events.
  • Moving and handling: children show good control and coordination; move confidently, safely negotiating the space.
  • Self-confidence and self-awareness: trying new activities; speaking in a group; responsible for resources and props.
  • Managing relationships and behaviour: working as part of a group, taking turns with others; follow instructions.
