Designed for 4-11 year olds, one facilitator visits your venue with a workshop designed specially to support this years Summer Reading Challenge. There will be a few props and visual aids but the main focus is on inspiring the imaginations of the children through drama and storytelling.
Here at Freshwater, we love nothing more than getting into a good book over the holidays, but we know that children’s reading skills can sometimes ‘dip’ over the summer break as they find it harder to engage. Research shows that taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge by The Reading Agency, can help maintain key literacy skills over the holidays.
Every year we create a brand new workshop to support the Summer Reading Challenge, exciting and enthusing children about the challenge theme. For 2024, the children will become story makers, and will work with our specialist drama facilitator to create a story together.
Whether you are a library or borough wanting to welcome children into your venue this summer or a school looking to maintain key reading skills over the break, our workshops are here to support you.
Let’s get them hooked on books!
Booking with us has enormous benefits for your library or school. Our sessions will get children into your venue and signed up to the Summer Reading Challenge.
I have seen many storytelling sessions in the library but with this session I particularly liked the way children had an active part.
