Victorian Homelife and Toys

Subject: History

Age Group: KS1

Region: London/Greater London

The ‘new servants’ at Sudbury Manor must complete all household chores to the housekeeper’s satisfaction if they are to enjoy the Victorian toys at the end of a long day.

One facilitator visits your school in role as a Victorian housekeeper and works with one class at a time, giving the children a chance to explore different aspects and chores of a Victorian household, as well as a chance to play with Victorian toys at the end.

Rooms visited:

The Housekeepers Room, The Attic Bedroom, The Scullery, The Kitchen, The Drawing Room, The Nursery (with the toys)

Children were engaged with the session from the start. All children had a chance to participate in the session and learnt a lot.
