Freshwater Theatre Company is recruiting freelance Drama Facilitators to deliver our interactive drama workshops in primary schools across Greater London and the West Midlands.

We are looking for skilled, playful and reliable practitioners who are passionate about using drama as an educational tool and who enjoy working independently with young people.

About Freshwater Theatre Company

Freshwater Theatre Company is a leading drama-in-education provider, working with over 70,000 children each year. Since 1996, we have delivered high quality, affordable drama experiences that support the primary curriculum while nurturing children’s creativity, confidence and wellbeing.

We work mainly in primary schools, as well as libraries, museums and cultural organisations, and have built long-standing relationships with schools across the country.

The role

As a Drama Facilitator, you will lead one-hour, fully planned interactive drama workshops for groups of up to 30 children. Sessions are usually delivered single-handedly and include:

  • Leading drama activities and games
  • Performing in role as a character
  • Interactive storytelling
  • Occasionally using music, movement, puppetry or song

All workshops are scripted and all props are provided.

Who we are looking for

We are keen to hear from practitioners who:

  • Have significant experience leading drama sessions with large groups of primary age children
  • Are confident working independently and managing groups single-handedly
  • Believe in the value of drama as a learning tool
  • Are reliable, organised and confident with journey planning and timekeeping
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with school staff and the Freshwater team

You must be eligible for an enhanced DBS check. We can support you to apply, although the cost must be covered by the applicant.

You will travel directly from your home to schools across Greater London or in and around Birmingham and the West Midlands. Facilitators based in the West Midlands MUST be able to drive and have access to their own car.
