Columbus and Armstrong – Famous Explorers Workshop

Subject: History

Age Group: KS1, KS2

Region: London/Greater London, North West, West Midlands

In this KS1 Famous Explorers workshop, you will explore the life and times of two significant figures in Western History: Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong!

First, travel back to the middle of the 1400s when Columbus was born, and re-create the port of Genoa. Then become Columbus’s ship, the Santa Maria, and set sail for Spain in 1492, before sensitively discussing the negative impact sailors like Columbus had on indigenous people and their land.

Next, travel forward to the 1960s and the Space Race. Meet Neil Armstrong, the first person to step foot on the moon, and countdown 3…2…1… blast off! into space!

And finally, having recreated the events of their journeys, examine the similarities and differences between these two significant men.

Do you have what it takes to be an explorer? Can you be brave? Are you determined? Do you have a b-i-g imagination?

Then come join our Time Traveller on one of our most popular immersive journeys in this KS1 Famous Explorers workshop!
